Seeking Balance in Airport Screening
In “Administration to Seek Balance in Airport Screening” by Scott Shane explains how airport screening has become a risk of terror attacks on flights.Shane talks about Obama saying that sometimes its sensitive to criticism because the security measures go too far, but they’re willing to do it just to be safe even though its a risk. Also, the T.S.A began testing a full body scanner in 2007 whereas if the screener spotted something suspicious on a scan the passenger must do a physical search. This is where people find this offensive because some people are innocent and feel like the securities are doing this just to tease or take advantage of them. Furthermore, the company introduced a pat-down procedure where about 1 percent of the passengers was caught out of the scanner but with the full-body scanner shows about 80 percent that were caught. In addition to this, Shane mentions James Carafano and Bruce Hoffman that they would give an advice on screening.
